Suicide Blast At Kabul Cricket Stadium During Afghanistan T20 Tournament, 4 Injured

Afghanistan Bomb Blast: All players were rushed inside a bunker. The blast happened when a match was on between Band-e-Amir Dragons and Pamir Zalmi.

A grenade blast took place at the Kabul International Cricket Stadium in Afghanistan's Kabul during the Shpageeza Cricket League T20, injuring four spectators. All players were rushed inside a bunker.

The blast happened when a match was on between Band-e-Amir Dragons and Pamir Zalmi. Officials from the United Nations were present at the stadium when the attack happened.

The Shpageeza Cricket League, an IPL-style professional T20 league, was established by the Afghanistan Cricket Board in 2013.

Hundreds of people were at the match, AFP reported. Kabul police spokesman Khalid Zadran said the blast was caused by a grenade, adding that the game was halted for a few minutes.

Afghanistan has been hit by a series of bomb attacks reportedly launched by the Islamic State (IS) group opposing the Taliban regime.

The blast comes two days after an explosion took place near the gate of Gurdwara Karte Parwan in Kabul. No loss of life was reported in the incident.

In June, several blasts tore through Gurdwara Karte Parwan in Kabul's Bagh-e Bala neighbourhood. The Islamic State had claimed responsibility for the deadly terror attack on the gurdwara. Two persons, including one Sikh community member, were killed in the blast.

In May, in one of the deadliest attacks this year, 14 people were killed and 32 others wounded in four explosions that rocked Kabul and the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif.

Five worshippers were killed and 17 others wounded in Kabul after a blast ripped through a mosque during evening prayers. The blast occurred when people were offering prayers in Hazrat-e-Zekria Mosque, Xinhua news agency reported.

The Kabul blast took place about one hour after three consecutive explosions struck three buses in Mazar-i-Sharif, killing nine people and wounding 15 others.
