It is a second such incident in south Kashmir within a day. On Tuesday, two Jaish-e-Mohammed militants were killed in Pulwama district. According to newsonair.com report, Superintendent of Police, Awantipora said a joint team of  Army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force and Awantipora Police had launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the area after getting a specific input about the presence of terrorists in the area. The standoff took place in Saimoh Tral area in the early hours of Tuesday after joint forces launched a cordon and search operation following inputs about the presence of militants, as per the J&K police. The region has witnessed increased militancy operations since April. On Saturday, two more militants were killed in Kulgam district followed by another encounter between militants and security forces broke out in the Anantnag district of South Kashmir. In fact last week, security forces averted a massive car bomb attack in Pulwama after it stopped a vehicle carrying 40-45 kg of improvised explosive device (IED). The plan had a startling resemblance of the last year's terror attack in Pulwama which killed 40 as a suicide bomber drove a car full of explosives into a CRPF convoy.
