Suzuki Access 125 recall has begun: Dealerships call customers to turn in for the fix

New Delhi: Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited (SMIPL) has been recalling about 54,740 units of the new Suzuki Access 125 scooter in order to fix an issue on its rear axle shaft. The complaints had been uniform from customers who complained of “rear wheel instability” for the units purchased since March, when the 125 cc scooter launched. The issue has been identified in as many as 54,740 units that have been sold since the scooter’s launch in March. These scooters were produced from Suzuki’s plants from March 8 till June 22, 2016. Suzuki will ensure that the rear axle shaft is functioning properly, and if it doesn’t, Suzuki will fix and replace the axle shafts free of cost. As an act of goodwill, the Japanese automaker will also offer free periodic maintenance service for all those who turn in their vehicles to dealerships for this service recall campaign. Dealerships have already started calling customers who purchased their Suzuki Access 125 scooter in the said dates requesting them to turn in their vehicles for the fix. Besides the inspection and fixing of the rear axle shaft, Suzuki will also inspect and fix for free other faulty parts and, if needed, will replace them too. Debuting at the 2016 Auto Expo, the Suzuki Access 125 launched in March with a 125 cc, single-cylinder, engine delivering 8.58 bhp at 7000 rpm and 10.2 Nm of torque at 5000 rpm. The Access 125 received frequent and major upgrades as the chrome styling and the kerb weight lowered to 102 kg from the original 112 kg. Sporting the Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) technology to improve its fuel efficiency, the kerb weight reduction has made the Suzuki Access 125 faster than the previous. The price of the Suzuki Access 125 starts from Rs. 53,887 (ex-showroom Delhi). Source: vicky.in
