UP: Young Bride Dies During Marriage Ceremony, Sister Made To Wed Groom
The bride named Surabhi fell unconscious soon after exchanging garlands and other ceremonies following which the family members called in a doctor, who declared her dead stating that she suffered a major cardiac arrest.
Etawah: “No one knows what the future holds, except the one who Holds the future.” An incident, which none expected, took place during a marriage ceremony in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah district as a young bride fell ill and collapsed just before the final ceremony of ‘pheras’.
The bride named Surabhi fell unconscious soon after exchanging garlands and other ceremonies following which the family members called in a doctor, who declared her dead stating that she suffered a major cardiac arrest.
The incident, which took place earlier this week in Samaspur in Bharthana, prompted the families to solemnise the marriage between the groom and the dead bride’s sister.
“We did not know what to do in the situation. Both families sat together and someone suggested that my younger sister Nisha should be married to the groom. The families discussed the matter and both agreed,” IANS quoted Surabhi’s brother Saurabh as saying.

The dead bride’s last rites were held after the marriage ceremony.
Expressing grief over the sudden development, Surabhi’s uncle Ajab Singh said “it was a tough call for our family”.
“One daughter lay dead in one room and the wedding of another daughter was being solemnized in the other room. We have never witnessed such mixed emotions. The grief over her death and the happiness of the wedding has yet to sink in,” he added.
