Renault Updates Captur With More Features, Prices Start At Rs 9.5 Lakh
The SUV gets more safety features as standard, a revised variant lineup and other minor updates
Captur now gets rear parking sensors, speed alert and driver and co-driver seatbelt reminder as standard
Now only available in two variants - RXE and Platine; mid-spec RXL discontinued
More affordable overall - RXE (both petrol and diesel) cheaper by Rs 50,000 and Platine diesel by Rs 25,000.
Renault has given the Captur, its flagship model in India, a set of updates to make it compliant with the new 2019 safety regulations. Also, Renault seems to have gotten rid of the middle-spec variants. The RXE and Platine are the only two variants with both petrol and diesel engines now. Not only that, the base-spec RXE is now cheaper by Rs 50,000 than before.
Rear parking sensors, driver and co-driver seatbelt reminder and speed alert join the list of safety features offered as standard on the Captur SUV. Other features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, auto door lock, rear defogger, rear wiper with washer and ISOFIX child seat anchors continue to be offered on all variants by Renault. The French carmaker also claims that the update makes the Captur compliant with the latest frontal, lateral and pedestrian crash safety norms.
The top-spec Platine variant was previously restricted to the diesel engine only, but is now available with the petrol engine as well. It continues to be equipped with additional features like rear parking camera with guidelines, cruise control with speed limiter, rain sensing wipers and auto headlamps too. The MediaNAV infotainment system with the 7-inch touchscreen has been updated with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and voice recognition along with an Eco Guide system that aims to provide guidelines to improve fuel efficiency by monitoring driving patterns.
In the top-spec variant, the Captur also gets new auto-folding ORVMs with a welcome function, synced to the smart key’s walk-away lock function. It also gets full-LED headlamps, LED DRLs and 17-inch alloys.
The prices for the updated Renault Captur are as follows:
All prices mentioned are ex-showroom, Delhi.
Under the hood, the Renault Captur continues to be offered with the same set of 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines with no automatic transmission on offer. The 1.5-litre petrol unit is mated to a 5-speed MT and produces 106PS of power and 142Nm of torque, while the diesel unit is good for 110PS and 240Nm, mated to a 6-speed manual.
