Rajinikanth Exits Electoral Politics: Not To Participate In Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2021, Cites Health Reasons

Earlier Rajinikanth said he will launch his political party in January next year and said a formal announcement will be made on Decemeber 31.

Chennai: Tamil superstar Rajinikanth  has exited electoral politics citing health issues in a long letter announcing his decision not to participate in forthcoming assembly elections in the state. However, this news come amid actor-politician  Rajinikanth announcement earlier this month regarding the long-anticipated political party on December 31, which the actor said will be launched in January. Rajinikanth had made the announcement after meeting senior office bearers of his forum, the Rajini Makkal Mandram.
Rajinikanth was admitted on Friday with severe fluctuations in blood pressure.
He was discharged on Monday after an improvement in his medical condition. The actor later left for Chennai. Apollo Hospital said in a statement that he was admitted with severe hypertension and exhaustion. "He was kept under close medical supervision and treated by a team of doctors. His blood pressure has been stabilised and he is feeling much better. In view of his improved medical condition, he is being discharged from the hospital today," it said. In view of his post-transplant status, labile hypertension and age, the doctors have advised him complete bed rest for one week with regular monitoring of blood pressure. He was also advised to undertake minimal physical activity and to avoid stress. The 70-year-old actor also been counselled to avoid any activity that increases the risk of contracting Covid-19, the hospital added.
In a tweet on December 3, Rajinikanth had said further details of his political party will be announced on December 31, as he promised to bring about an “honest, spiritual government”, hinting towards a “miracle”. “We will surely win assembly polls and give an honest, transparent, corruption-free, and spiritual politics. A wonder and miracle will definitely happen," he said.
Earlier in October, a letter claiming to be of Rajinikanth had gone viral saying he was in two minds about his political plans because of his health. The speculation was fueled by a leaked letter. Later the actor took to social media to clarify that it was not his letter but certain things were right. However, he will be taking the decision soon.
