Zomato Executive's Death: Delhi Police Lodge FIR Against Cop Whose Car Rammed Deliveryman
A 38-year-old delivery executive was killed after being allegedly hit by the vehicle of a policeman suspected to be under the influence of alcohol in north-west Delhi's Rohini.
New Delhi: Delhi Police on Friday registered an First Information Report (FIR) against the cop whose vehicle hit the Zomato delivery executive who was killed in a road accident after allegedly being hit by policeman's car.
38-year-old delivery executive was killed after being allegedly hit by the vehicle of a policeman suspected to be under the influence of alcohol in north-west Delhi's Rohini on January 8 night. Police have said the accused constable identified as Zile Singh has been arrested.
The accused cop has been apprehended and administrative action has been taken against him. Delhi Police have also informed that the blood sample of the accused cop has been sent to Forensic Science Lab and reports are awaited.

Meanwhile, Zomato Founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal has extended his condolences and extended financial assistance and job to the family of its delivery partner Salil Tripathi, who lost his life in the alleged road incident.
"We are deeply aggrieved by the death of our delivery partner Salil Tripathi in an unfortunate road incident," Goyal tweeted to express his condolence for the delivery partner.

Goyal also said that the company is helping the family with an insurance grant of Rs 10 lakh. Additionally, other employees of the food delivery app have collectively contributed Rs 12 lakh towards the family's future.
The family of the victim has sought justice for him and a government job for his wife as people from different cities offered financial support.
