Yogi signs 'Power for All’ pact with Centre to provide 24-hr electricity supply in UP

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday signed ambitious 'Power for All' pact in a bid to make the state energy efficient by 2018 and help in ensuring power in all UP villages.  Addressing the media after the event, Adityanath reiterated that by November 2018, all the villages and households in the state will get electricity supply. Adityanath government in chose 'Ambedkar Jayanti' as the occasion to sign the ambitious 24x7 'Power For All' scheme of the Centre. The chief minister has decided to implement this power scheme of the central government in view of the frequent power cuts in some areas of the state. Adityanath also alleged that Akhilesh Yadav deprived UP of development. "Under the Ujjwala Yojana 3.30 lakh LED bulbs have been sold today," Piyush Goyal said. According to PTI, the state government also announced that it is expanding the ambit of helpline Dial 1911 through which the consumers in rural areas in coming days could communicate their grievances pertaining to power and electricity. The Cabinet had also changed the electricity roster implemented by Akhilesh Yadav-led Government to ensure at least 18 hours of electricity to villages across the state. Under 'Power for All', the Centre aims to provide 24x7 power across the country by 2019 by creating cost effective infrastructure which was sustainable and inclusive of clean energy solutions. On April 11, Adityanath had ordered 18-hour power supply in villages, 20-hour at tehsil level and in Bundelkhand region. He also ordered that district headquarters will get 24-hour power supply. He had also directed the officials to ensure uninterrupted supply to the villages from 6 in the evening to 6 in the morning so as to help the students prepare for exams. The cabinet had decided to change defective transformers within 48 hours not in 72 hours, the time fixed earlier, and 24 hours in urban areas. It also decided to waive surcharge on domestic connection and take only principal amount of the bill. During its campaign for the UP Assembly elections, BJP had attacked the previous Akhilesh Yadav government over poor electricity supply in the state.
