Assembly Elections Phase 4 Voting: Bengal In Tenterhooks As 44 Seats To Go For Polls On Saturday

WB Election, Phase 4 Voting: Polling for Phase 4 will be held on as many as 44 seats covering constituencies like Cooch Behar and Alipurduar districts in north Bengal and others.

WB Election, Phase 4 Voting: Voting for the fourth phase of Assembly Elections in West Bengal will take place on Saturday (April 10) which will decided the fate of as many as 373 candidates including Bharatiya Janata Party's Union Minister Babul Supriyo who will lock horns will sitting MLA of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) Arup Biswas from Tollygunj constituency.

Polling for Phase 4 will be held on as many as 44 seats covering constituencies like Cooch Behar and Alipurduar districts in north Bengal, parts of South 24 Parganas - Howrah and Hoogly in the southern region of the state. 

Phase 4 Assembly Elections: Timing

Voting for the phase 4 will begin at 7 am and will conclude at 6.30 pm. 

Phase 4 Assembly Elections: Security Arrangements

Adequate security arrangements have been put up in place by Election Commission of India (ECI) with as many as 789 companies of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) being deployed at 15,940 polling booths, spread over the 44 constituencies going to polls.

According to PTI, the highest deployment of 187 companies of CAPF will be in Cooch Behar, which has witnessed sporadic incidents of violence in the run-up to the elections, including an attack on BJP state president Dilip Ghosh.

Phase 4 Assembly Elections: Number Of Voters

Phase four of Assembly polls will have as many as 1,15,81,022 voters in constituency seats spread over Howrah (Part II), South 24 Parganas (Part III), Hooghly (Part II), Alipurduar and Cooch Behar. Additionally, Howrah has nine assembly constituencies, South 24 Parganas has 11 seats , Alipurduar has 5, Coochbehar has 9 and Hooghly has ten.

Phase 4 Assembly Elections: Key Candidates In Fray

Apart from Babul Supriyo and Arup Biswa, other key candidates in fray are TMC’s secretary-general Partha Chatterjee, film actor Srabanti Chatterjee, TMC turncoat Rajib Banerjee, BJP MPs Locket Chatterjee and Nisith Pramanik.
