WATCH: Sonia surprised as Mulayam back PM Modi for second term
Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav on Wednesday praised the NDA government and wished that Narendra Modi should become Prime Minister for the second term.
NEW DELHI: At a time when opposition parties are trying to forge a 'united front' to oust the ruling BJP from power, Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav on Wednesday praised the NDA government and wished that Narendra Modi should become Prime Minister for the second term.
“I want to congratulate the prime minister that he tried to take all parties together. I wish that all the current members of the Lok Sabha get re-elected and you (Narendra Modi) become prime minister once again,” Singh, who was elected to the lower house of the Parliament from Uttar Pradesh’s Azamgarh, said.
Mulayam, a three-time Uttar Pradesh chief minister, said this during his departure note at the Lok Sabha on the last day of the Parliament session.
Akhilesh Yadav, who snatched the mantle of the SP national president from father Mulayam, has recently announced a tie-up in Uttar Pradesh with arch-rival BSP for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections against the ruling Narendra Modi government.
In 2014, the BJP had won 71 seats in Uttar Pradesh while its ally Apna Dal bagged two. The Samajwadi Party won 5 seats and the Congress two, while the BSP drew a blank.
