BJP Leader Soumendu Adhikari's car was vandalised amid the first phase of voting in West Bengal. The BJP leader has accused TMC of the attack.

Voting in Bengal: As polling for the first phase of West Bengal Elections is underway, Bhartiya Janata Party leader Soumendu Adikhari's car was attacked by miscreants at South Kontai in West Bengal. The car was vandalised and the windshield was smashed.

ABP News spoke to Soumendu Adhikari about the incident and he alleged that TMC workers tried to attack him but he knew something would happen so he was not inside the car. Soumendu said that 4-5 BJP workers who were in the car have been injured and are in the hospital.

Soumendu Adhikari said, "Under the leadership of TMC block president Ram Govind Das and his wife poll rigging was underway at three polling booths. My arrival here created problem for them to continue with their mischiefs so they attacked my car and thrashed my driver."

While Soumendu has accused TMC of the incident, his brother and TMC Leader Dibyendu Adhikari informed the police observer about the incident.

"I got to know that vehicle (of Soumendu Adhikari) was attacked in Contai with help of TMC block president Ram Govind Das. Soumendu isn't injured. The driver was beaten up. I've informed Police Observer," said Dibyendu Adhikari, TMC leader & brother of Soumendu Adhikari.

Following in the footsteps of his elder brother and former Trinamool Congress heavyweight Suvendu Adhikari who joined the BJP in December, his younger brother Soumendu Adhikari joined the saffron party in January.
