'Khap Is Our Culture, Can't Assess It On Isolated Incidents': Vice President Dhankhar In Haryana — WATCH
In Haryana, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar supported Khap and highlighted key milestones, including the construction of the Ayodhya Ram temple and the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A in J-K.
New Delhi: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Saturday defended the cultural institution of Khap and emphasised that it should not be judged solely based on isolated incidents. Additionally, he highlighted the significant milestones achieved by India over the past decade, shifting from a period marred by corruption scandals to emerging as a key player in the global economy.
Vice President said, "Look at our culture, khap (clan-based outfits). Go into the background of khap. You will find that khap is positive. You cannot assess it on isolated incidents", reported news agency PTI. He also praised 'akharas' in Haryana for its glorious history.

Dhankar was addressing a gathering in Faridabad on the release of the book '9 Incredible Years of Haryana Government: Emergence of a New and Vibrant Haryana' at Surajkund. Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya and Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar among others were also present on this occasion.
"India has changed in the past 10 years, from being in the news for scams, to now poised to becoming the third largest economy in the world in the next two and three years", PTI quoted Dhankar as saying.
Vice President Dhankhar noted that India's image has undergone a substantial transformation in the past 10 years. The nation, once frequently making headlines for corruption scandals, is now on the cusp of achieving a remarkable economic milestone. This change signifies a broader shift in the country's narrative, highlighting its ability to overcome challenges and position itself as a key player on the global stage, he stated, as reported by PTI.
The Vice President highlighted key milestones, including the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya and the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A in Jammu and Kashmir. These monumental decisions signify a commitment to upholding cultural and historical values while navigating the complexities of governance and legal frameworks.
Dhankhar also mentioned that India poised to become the third-largest economy globally within the next two to three years is a testament to the nation's economic resurgence.
