Samajwadi Party will not be allowed to split, asserts Mulayam Singh Yadav

New Delhi: Mulayam Singh Yadav on Wednesday addressed Samajwadi Party workers at SP headquarters in Lucknow where he said that he won't let the party split.  "I found SP during Emergency days when Akhilesh Yadav was two years old, said Mulayam flanked by brother Shivpal Yadav. "Ramgopal is causing rift in Samajwadi Party" Mulayam also praised Shivpal, who is at loggerheads with Akhilesh. The prolonged feud between Mulayam Singh Yadav and son Akhilesh Yadav doesn’t seem to end anytime soon. Amid the family ‘war’, it is uncertain to say who would process the party symbol ‘cycle’. Both ‘netaji’ and Chief Minister are adamant about taking charge as party Supremo. Gayatri Prajapati from Mulayam camp made father and son talk over the phone on Monday.  During the conversation, Akhilesh told Mulayam that we need to save the party symbol, and therefore Mulayam must take back his memorandum. After this statement, Mulayam softened his stand but the matter reversed after Akhilesh Mulayam met on Tuesday morning. Amid the continuing factional feud in his party, Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav on Monday extended an olive branch to his rebellious son Akhilesh Yadav, saying he would be the next Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh if the party retains power. "Akhilesh will be the next Chief Minister. Our party is completely united. There is no question of the party breaking up," Mulayam said. The surprise statement came on a day when the factional war in the Samajwadi Party escalated with the Akhilesh camp seeking an early decision on the disputed party symbol while the embattled SP patriarch asserted that he is still the party chief.
