UP Zila Panchayat Election Result: BJP Uproots SP In Local Polls; Bags 67 Out Of 75 Seats

BJP won 67 out of 75 seats. Samajwadi Party won 5 seats, Lok Dal and Jansatta Dal won 1 seat each. One seat goes to independent candidate.

Lucknow: The voting for Zila panchayat chairman posts in as many as 53 districts of Uttar Pradesh took place today couting of votes have now reached its final leg with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) bagging the elections.

According to State Election Commission, polling began at 11 am on Saturday and continued till 3 pm and the counting of votes began right after that. 

As per final trends, the saffron party emerged as a sole winner of Panchayat elections with winning 67 out of 75 seats. The election results came as a massive setback for Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party (BJP) who managed to win just 5 seats.

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won 67 out of 75 seats. Samajwadi Party won 5 seats, Lok Dal and Jansatta Dal won 1 seat each. One seat goes to independent candidate.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath congratulation BJP candidates for securing massive mandate in Zila Panchayat polls. Adityanath also attributed the win to PM Modi's welfare schemes.

"BJP has secured a historic victory in district panchayat chairperson elections. Samajwadi Party (SP) has depolyed their goondas & mafias to win these elections, but they faced defeat. I am very happy. I thank district panchayat members,"UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya said after winning the polls.
