UP Official Accused Of Beating & Sitting On Woman, Kanpur Dehat Police Refute Claims Through Video
Kanpur Dehat SP said that the Bhognipur police in charge fell on the woman while Yadav's family claims that the officer acted in an unruly manner as they refused to follow his demands.
Kanpur: An Uttar Pradesh police official has been accused of overpowering a woman, and hitting her as he sat on top of her in Kanpur Dehat district.
The incident reportedly took place on Saturday and a photo of the incident wherein the cop was seen sitting on top of the woman was circulated widely on social media.
Reports stated that the sub-inspector Mahendra Patel had an argument with the woman in Durgadaspur village while he was looking for a person.

"He slapped and then dragged me down to the ground. He then sat on top of me and started hitting me badly. The villagers intervened and rescued me," Aarti told the media persons.
The team was in the village to arrest Shivam Yadav, who according to the police, had threatened a candidate in the panchayat elections.
Aarti who is Shivam Yadav's wife had claimed that the sub-inspector demanded money to release Yadav but the family refused which made him angry.
Kanpur Dehat Police Release Clarification
The Kanpur Dehat Police released a video to counter the allegations. Kanpur Dehat Superintendent of Police Keshav Chaudhary in relation to the viral photo related to Police Station Bhognipur-Chowki Incharge Pukhrayan said that the team was attacked by the family of Shivam Yadav including the women members.
Kanpur Dehat SP said that the Bhognipur police in charge fell on the woman while Yadav's family claims that the officer acted in an unruly manner as they refused to follow his demands.
"In the video, one can see the woman was holding the chowki in-charge's collar.. when the woman unclenched his collar he immediately got up and left," the SP stated.
Keshav Chaudhary said that Yadav was caught by the police when he was gambling with a few friends but his mother and wife clung to him which led to the tussle between Patel and the women.
"The women allege that the police misbehaved with them and beat them. We are conducting a probe into the matter. The official has been line-attached to carry out a non-partisan investigation," Kanpur Dehat SP informed.
