Union Budget Is As Hit As Pathaan, Says BSP Leader. Better If It Is For Country, Says Party Chief Mayawati

"As the movie Pathaan, the relief offered to the ordinary people in the Budget has made it a hit," Nagar, a Lok Sabha member from Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh said.

BSP leader Malook Nagar stated on Wednesday that the Union Budget's assistance for ordinary people has made it a hit like Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan, news agency PTI reported.

"As the movie Pathaan, the relief offered to the ordinary people in the Budget has made it a hit," Nagar, a Lok Sabha member from Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh, told PTI in a video interview.

He stated that the income tax reduction provided in the Budget will encourage more individuals to file income tax forms.

The Union Budget plans proposed would improve the economy and guarantee that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's aim of a USD 5 trillion GDP becomes a reality.

Mayawati Says 'Better If It Is For Country Than A Party'

On the other hand, Mayawati, the chief of the Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP), took a veiled swipe at the Centre for its Union Budget presented in Parliament on Wednesday, saying it should be for the country rather than a party, ANI reported.

“Whenever the Centre talks about the beneficiaries of a scheme, it must remember that India is a vast country of about 130 crore poor peoples, labourers, deprived citizens, farmers etc. who are yearning for their Amrit Kaal. It is better if the budget is more for the country than for a party,” BSP chief Mayawati said in a series of tweets.

Mayawati stated on Twitter that the budget given was quite similar to those provided in the previous nine years, with enormous promises and announcements lavished on ordinary folks.

Noting that the Union Budget 2023 has not been any different, BSP Chief stated: “All the promises, announcements, claims and expectations showered by the Centre in its budget during the last nine years became meaningless [bemani] when the middle-class section of India became lower middle class due to inflation, poverty, and unemployment."

“This year’s budget is not much different. No government tells its shortcomings of the last year but line the people up with new promises. People live on hopes, but why give false hopes?” she added.

She went on to say that the government's restricted policies have the greatest negative impact on the lives of people in rural India.

Rural India is referred to as the "true India." Mayawati stated that the government's "narrow policies" and "wrong thinking" have the greatest impact on the lives of crores of poor farmers and other industrious people in rural India. She stated that the government should pay attention to their self-esteem and self-reliance so that the ordinary man's pockets are full and the country may progress further.
