Telangana: 5.3-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Mulugu, Tremors Felt In Hyderabad, Parts Of Andhra

Hyderabad earthquake: Telangana is not a place that frequently experiences earthquake as the state is classified as Zone II, a zone with low-intensity seismic activity. 

Hyderabad earthquake: Telangana's Mulugu district recorded a 5.3-magnitude earthquake. As a result of the earthquake at 7:25 AM, tremors were reported in Hyderabad and parts of Andhra Pradesh. The incident has caused panic among Telangana and Andhra Pradesh residents. 

However, no untoward incidents or casualties were reported.

National Center for Seismology said, "An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 on the Richter Scale hit Mulugu, Telangana at 7:27 AM today."

Panic ensued in some areas as residents ran out of their homes when the ground shook for 3 to 5 seconds. The intensity of the quake was notably high in districts along the Godavari River in both Telugu states. Parts of Hyderabad, including Cyberabad, Vanasthalipuram, Hayathnagar, and Abdullapurmet, experienced the tremors. CCTV footage capturing household items shaking was widely circulated on social media, with residents reporting falling utensils, wobbling ceiling fans, and other disruptions. Realizing it was an earthquake, many rushed outside as a precaution, as per a report on IANS.

Dr Prakash Kumar, Director of CSIR-NGRI said, " We have got to know that people felt the tremours lightly. They might have felt it very lightly. Hyderabad is not an earthquake-prone area...it is not severe."

Tremors were also felt in the united districts of Khammam, Warangal, Rangareddy, and Karimnagar. In the united Warangal district, areas like Mulugu, Hanamkonda, and Jayashankar Bhupalpally reported experiencing the quake.

 Similarly, Kothagudem, Manuguru, Bhadrachalam, Charla, Chintakani, Nagulavancha, and Yellandu in the united Khammam district were also affected by the tremors.
