Spider in Indian parliament’s canteen food raises eyebrows; had served PM Modi in the past

New Delhi: Parliament’s canteen, which is known for serving food to our lawmakers at very cheap rates, has again made it to the headlines; this time for serving a huge spider along with the meal. As per an employee working in the parliament, a spider was found in his Pongal, which a dish made from rice, generally consumed in Southern India. As per the complaint filed by the employee, he took ill after consuming the ‘poisoned’ pongal dish served at Lok Sabha canteen. The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon at around 1 pm, when class 1 officer of Lok Sabha’s reporting branch Srinivasan reached parliament canteen. As per Srinivasan, he started puking and feeling unwell only after consuming two bytes from the plate, after which he noticed a huge spider floating his food. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with senior leaders has been regularly consuming food served at parliament’s canteen; therefore finding a spider in the food of this canteen has come as a shocker to all. As per Srinivasan, this isn’t the first time has raised the issue of unhygienic food at the canteen, as per him he had raised the issue earlier when he found an insect in his food but all he got in return was assurance than action.
