Sourav Ganguly Discharged From Hospital After Covid Treatment, To Remain In Home Isolation

BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly is said to have been advised by doctors to stay home and follow Covid restrictions until recovery.

New Delhi: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president and former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly, who had tested positive for Covid-19 earlier this week and was admitted to hospital, will be spending new year’s eve at home.

He has been discharged from the hospital but will remain in home isolation for the next two weeks, news agency PTI reported. The former skipper will be in home isolation under doctors' supervision.

According to a report on the Anandabazar Patrika's website, Ganguly started for his Behala home in Kolkata after being discharged from Woodlands Nursing Home around 2 pm.

The report said his red car had been parked at the hospital gate since noon, and the driver was seen in a PPE kit. Coming out of the hospital, he waved at the public before entering the car, the report said.

Quoting hospital sources, the report said the BCCI chief had a normal meal on Thursday and he slept well. Doctors also said his condition has considerably improved, and that it was better for him to stay in isolation at home, following all Covid restrictions, than in hospital until he fully recovers.

Earlier, Ganguly tested positive for Covid-19 on December 27 and was admitted to the hospital where his condition was stated to be stable. The viral load was found to be 19.5.

In January 2021, Ganguly the former cricketer suffered a cardiac arrest and had to be admitted to the same Woodlands Nursing Home. He had undergone angioplasty at the time.

After India’s win against South Africa in the first Test at Centurion on Thursday, Ganguly congratulated the team with a message on Twitter.

He wrote: “Great victory for Team India ..not surprised by the result at all...will be a hard team to beat this series..South Africa will have to play out of their skins to do that ..enjoy the new year”.
