On reaching Delhi one of the evacuees thanked government of India for its support and said that more Indians are stranded in Ukraine and he hopes for their safe return.
"Government has helped us a lot. All possible support was provided by the Indian Embassy. The main problem is crossing the border. I hope all Indians are brought back. There are several more Indians still stranded in Ukraine," a student on reaching Delhi said to news agency ANI.
In order to evacuate its nationals from Ukraine, the Indian government has launched 'Operation Ganga'. So far five flights carrying Indians from Ukraine have arrived in the country.
The evacuation is being done by India under land border crossings with Romania, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia due to closing of Ukrainian airspace.
According to a government estimate close to 15,000 Indian citizens are stranded in Ukraine due to the conflict.
Under 'Operation Ganga' the first flight carrying 219 Indians from Ukraine had landed in Mumbai from Bucharest on Saturday.
And with the fifth flight arriving in Delhi today, the total number of evacuated Indians is now 718.
