RSS, BJP Members Do Politics In Name Of Religion: Priyanka Gandhi Backs Rahul’s ‘Hindutvavadi’ Jibe

Asserting “Hinduism teaches honesty and love amongst all”, the Congress leader said the RSS and BJP members are not on the path of righteousness or honesty.

Rae Bareli: Extending support to her brother Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Hindutvavadi’ remark, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi on Sunday alleged the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members do politics in the name of religion.

Asserting “Hinduism teaches honesty and love amongst all”, the Congress leader said the RSS and BJP members are not on the path of righteousness or honesty.

“The RSS and BJP members do politics in the name of religion; they aren't on the path of righteousness or honesty. Rahul ji is just trying to show the difference,” she said, ANI reported.

Taking potshots at the BJP, Rahul Gandhi had earlier on Saturday said that “Hindutvawadis” were directly responsible for the rising inflation, pain and sadness in the nation.

“Today, if there is inflation, pain, sadness in our country, it is the work of the ‘Hindutvawadis’. Today, the battle is between ‘Hindus’ and ‘Hindutvawadis’. If Hindus believe in ‘satyagrah’, ‘Hindutvawadis’ believe in ‘sattagrah’ (political greed),” he said addressing a rally in his former bastion Amethi in Uttar Pradesh.

Priyanka Gandhi, who is the Congress’ Uttar Pradesh in-charge for the upcoming assembly elections, also accused the BJP government of “tapping the phones” of the Opposition.

“What is a government’s work? To develop, understand and find solutions of the problems of the public and stop the atrocities. This government is instead tapping the phones of the Opposition,” she said.

The Congress leader is in her mother and party chief Sonia Gandhi’s parliamentary constituency Rae Bareli to address the ‘Mahila Shakti Samvad’ with an eye on the women voters of Uttar Pradesh.
