Rohtang In Manali Receives Fresh Snow As North India Swelters In Record Heat — WATCH

Tourist hill station of Dharamsala was warmer at 38.3 degrees while Manali recorded a high of 29.5 degrees and Kufri and Narkanda 26.2 degrees, respectively.

While the Nothern India plane 'boiled' under record high temperatures, Rohtang in Himachal Pradesh received snowfall on Thursday.

The tourist spot in Manali district received fresh snow bringing respite from the intense heat. A video of tourists enjoying the scene was shared on social media platform X.

The snow comes even as Shimla and Una town experienced the hottest day of the season on Wednesday with Una town recording 46.0 degrees Celsius, its highest in at least 19 years.

In Una district's Neri the temperature was even higher at 46.3 degrees.The previous highest temperature in Una town was 45.2 degrees recorded in June 2005, May 2013, and June 2019, MeT officials said.

On Thursday, the mercury in New Delhi breached 50 degrees Celsius mark, breaching a record high in 80 years.

The national capital recorded a maximum temperature of 45.6 degrees Celsius on Thursday. 

Delhi has been in a heatwave condition for the last four days, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD) data. 

The ongoing heatwave sweeping Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan continued unabated on Thursday, with Sirsa and Faridkot reeling at 49.1 degrees Celsius and 48.3 degrees Celsius, respectively.

In Rajasthan, Ganganagar was the hottest place in the state on Thursday noting a high of 48.3 degrees Celsius. Other place that reeled under intense heat are Pilani in Jhunjhunu recording 47.6 degrees Celsius, Sangaria (Hanumangarh) noting 47.2 degrees Celsius, Churu 47 degrees Celsius and Phalodi 46.8 degrees Celsius.

Other states in the country including Bihar are also experiencing similar heatwave. The heatwave conditions in Bihar led to eight deaths in the state suspected to have been caused by the scorching weather.

Meanwhile, Southwest monsoon made an early onset over Kerala and northeastern region on Thursday, setting the stage for the four-month rainy season crucial for the country's agricultural sector.
