RJD's Misa Bharti Claims 'Jail' Remarks Against PM Modi Distorted, Calls It 'BJP's Agenda'

RJD leader and eldest daughter of RJD president Lalu Prasad, Misa Bharti, highlighted that her comments were centered on the Supreme Court's verdict about electoral bonds.

RJD leader Misa Bharti clarified on Friday that her comments were taken out of context after she remarked that PM Narendra Modi would wind up "in jail" if the BJP lost control. The eldest daughter of RJD president Lalu Prasad highlighted that her comments were centered on the Supreme Court's verdict about electoral bonds and emphasised the need for a thorough investigation into the matter of I.N.D.I.A bloc, of which RJD is a part, comes into power.

Bharti accused the media of distorting her statement, attributing it to the agenda of the BJP. "I never said anything about the PM. The media played a distorted clip instead of telecasting my full comment. It is BJP's agenda", claimed Bharti, PTI reported.

She outlined the lack of quality discussion by the BJP on pivotal issues like unemployment, inflation, and problems faced by farmers.

According to PTI, Bharti said, "The BJP does not have any issue. Does the PM talk about unemployment, inflation, farmers, and other promises made by party leaders earlier?" Bharti is contesting the Lok Sabha election from Patliputra constituency as a nominee of I.N.D.I.A bloc.

BJP Leaders Condemn Misa Bharti's 'Jail' Remarks On PM Modi

In response to criticism from BJP leaders, including Ravi Shankar Prasad, who condemned her alleged remark that had circulated widely on Thursday, Bharti underscored that she never directly referenced PM Modi.

"Such statements are highly condemnable. The post of Prime Minister is highly respected. Nothing is hidden from the country. Her (Bharti's) father has been convicted in the fodder scam. Her family is neck-deep in corruption. She should stop daydreaming," said Ravi Shankar on Thursday, PTI quoted saying.

Bihar Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha called for action from the Election Commission against Bharti characterising her statements as threats and predicting a defeat for corrupt RJD leaders in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

"The Election Commission must take cognisance of the statement given by Misa Bharti against the PM and also take appropriate action against her. People will give them a befitting reply in the Lok Sabha polls. Corrupt RJD leaders, who are responsible for 'goondaraj' in Bihar, will face a humiliating defeat in the polls," remarked Sinha.
