Rekha Singh, Wife Of Galwan Valley Clash Hero Gets Commissioned Into Indian Army After Training

Rekha Singh got commissioned into the Indian Army after succesfully completing her training at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai.

Rekha Singh, wife of Galwan Valley clash hero late Naik Deepak Singh, got commissioned into the Indian Army after successfully completing her training at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai on Saturday. She is among the first batch of five women officers to be inducted into the artillery regiment of the Army. Singh’s late husband Naik Deepak made a supreme sacrifice during the Galwan Valley clash. He was from ‘16Bihar’ Unit. She decided to join the Army after her husband passed away.

“Today my training has been completed and I have become a lieutenant. I am feeling very proud and I would like to advise all the women candidates out there to believe in themselves and do whatever they want to do without thinking about what others will say," she told news agency ANI.

"Woman Cadet Rekha Singh, wife of Late Naik(Nursing Assistant) Deepak Singh, #VirChakra(Posthumous) got commissioned into #IndianArmy after completing her training from #OTA  #Chennai," the Army tweeted. It said Deepak Singh made the supreme sacrifice during the Galwan Valley clashes.

She has been posted to a frontline base along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh, they said Lt  Singh on Saturday completed her one-year training at the Chennai-based Officers Training Academy (OTA), as reported by the news agency PTI.
