Frontline Warriors In Rajasthan To Get Rs 50 Lakh Relief

Those healthcare workers for whom central government had announced Rs 50 lakh insurance cover will not come under this scheme.

Jaipur, April 10: In a major relief to the front-line warriors who are putting their lives at risk during the Covid 19 outbreak, Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot has announced financial assistance to the tune of Rs 50 lakh to the family of any government employee in case of death. Employees working on a contract basis would also be covered under this financial assistance scheme. However, those healthcare workers for whom central government had announced Rs 50 lakh insurance cover will not come under this scheme, the statement said. The assistance will cover a multitude of workers from patwaris, gram sevaks, constables, contract employees including safai karmacharis, health workers and those employed on honorarium like home Guard, civil defence, Asha and Anganwadi workers. Earlier Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced every doctor, healthcare worker dealing with coronavirus pandemic, will get a ₹50 lakh insurance cover. In this direction, the states are supposed to use district mineral fund for COVID-19 medical expenses such as medical screening, facilities and health needs amid coronavirus outbreak. The total number of cases in Rajasthan has touched 553 as on Saturday. Rajasthan has the fourth-highest number of active cases, followed closely by Telangana (473).  India's total number of positive coronavirus patients have crossed the 7.447 mark with 642 patients recovering and 239 deaths so far.
