Rahul Gandhi Ready To Consider Congress President Post, Leaders To Propose Name At Udaipur Chintan Shivir: Report

After a gap of almost nine years the Congress party will be organising a Chintan Shivir in Rajasthan's Udaipur from May 13 to 15.

New Delhi: After receiving a serious drubbing in the recently held assembly elections and facing internal challenges, the Congress party is going to hold a three-day brainstorming 'Chintan Shivir' in Udaipur from May 13 that will focus on formulating a strategy to strengthen the party in order to challenge the Bharatiya Janata Party in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, reported news agency ANI.

Top Congress leaders are expected to come out with solutions to help party overcome its shortcomings. Polarisation, Centre-state ties and formation of alliances are some of the areas where suggestions would be sought from the leaders to clear the party's stand.

During the conclave, many leaders are expected to reiterate their March 14 demand made at the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting of making Rahul Gandhi the Congress president, reported ANI, citing sources

During the CWC meeting, senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury had pitched for the Wayanad MP to become the president of the party.

"Rahul is ready to consider the post. After this, a proposal came in the meeting to hold the election of the President in August-September. However, it was then decided that the ongoing process cannot be pre-poned," said a source to ANI after the meet.

After a gap of almost nine years the Congress party will be organising a Chintan Shivir in Rajasthan's Udaipur from May 13 to 15. This comes as the party is facing unprecedented political crisis with less than 100 members in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. It also remains in power in just two states.
