'Rahul Gandhi chor hai', BJP workers protest against his 'thief' jibe for PM Modi in Amethi

Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad while talking to ABP News slammed Rahul Gandhi and called him 'shameless' for his 'offensive' remark about Prime Minister Modi .

New Delhi: The BJP and Congress workers entered an altercation in Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi where the Congress President Rahul Gandhi is on a two-day-trip. The BJP workers staged enraged protests against the Congress chief over his statement where he addressed the Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “thief.” The irate BJP workers raised slogans calling Rahul Gandhi a thief, asking him to go back -“Rahul Gandhi Chor Hai, Rahul Gandhi Wapas Jao.” Police had to do lathicharge to disperse the crowd. The Congress party workers when faced by the protesting groups expressed their anger over the administration and questioned the state of law and order in Yogi Adityanath’s Uttar Pradesh. Congress leader Amita Singh while talking to ABP News said that Rahul Gandhi did not say anything wrong; he just reiterated what the former French President has said. Irked by the BJP’s show, she said that in a democracy people are free to stage protests, but the security forces here are not able to handle BJP crowd and are not giving us space to move forward. On being asked the reason behind protests, angry BJP workers said that Rahul Gandhi has shamed the people of Amethi with his ‘cheap’ remark for the Prime Minister. Rahul Gandhi’s controversial jibe On Monday Congress president Rahul Gandhi, who is on his first visit after his Kailash Mansarover pilgrimage,  charged that the country's "chowkidar" Narendra Modi snatched money away from the poor and handed it over to industrialist Anil Ambani. Gandhi also asked the prime minister for answers on several issues relating to the Rafale jet fighter deal and also to clarify as to why the former French president Francois Hollande allegedly called him a "thief". While addressing party workers in an event of Congress , Rahul Gandhi had said that the one who had come to fight corruption, himself handed over Rs. 30,000 crore to Anil Ambani. This is just the beginning; the fun is yet to begin. In the coming 2- 3 months we will show you that Narendra Modi Ji is not a “watchman” but a “thief”. The statement has stirred huge controversy with BJP leaders bashing Gandhi for using “offensive” word for the Prime Minister of the nation. Gandhi also referred to Modi as "Commander in Thief" in his tweet. Ravi Shankar Prasad calls Rahul Gandhi “shameless” Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad while talking to ABP News slammed Rahul Gandhi and said “Rahul Gandhi is shameless. He called PM Modi a thief when even the former French President Francois Hollande backtracked from his statement.” Prasad slammed the Gandhi family for alleged involvement in major scams.  He said: “Gandhi family cannot survive without commission, that is what they did during Bofors case, Submarine case or Augusta Westland case".
