New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind will visit the holy town of Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh on Monday. He will meet and interact with the residents of Krishna Kutir there, a statement issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan said Sunday. Vrindavan's Krishna Kutir is an ashram for widows. News agency PTI had earlier reported that Kovind during his visit to Vrindavan Monday will also pay obeisance at the famous Bankey Bihari temple. Quoting officials, the June 24 report said he would have tea with the residents of Krishna Kutir.

Late President Pranab Mukerjee, Kovind’s predecessor, had also paid obeisance at the Bankey Bihari temple, Gyanendra Goswami, the Rajbhog Seva Adhikari of the temple, was quoted as saying.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Governor Anandi Ben Patel will also be in Vrindavan Monday to welcome President Kovind, according to a report in Hindustan Times.

Elaborate security arrangements are in place for the VVIP visit, with the office of the additional superintendent of police (traffic) in Mathura issuing guidelines related to traffic, the report said, adding that all vehicles are prohibited from entering Vrindavan through the cut on Agra-Delhi highway.

The President’s helicopter is scheduled to land at a special helipad near Krishna Kutir ashram around 9.45 am, according to his official itinerary. He will proceed to the Bankey Bihari temple from there and then return to Krishna Kutir. Kovind is scheduled to fly back to Delhi in an Indian Air Force chopper at 12.15 pm.

“...restrictions would be in force from 8 am on Monday till the end of the VVIP visit. No vehicle will be allowed from Chatikara towards Vrindavan and heavy vehicles will not be allowed from Masani crossing towards Vrindavan on Monday,” the HT report said, quoting a statement.
