Police Clearance Certificate Not Required For Indians To Get Visa: Saudi Arabia Embassy

The embassy said that the step has been taken to further strengthen the relation between India and Saudi Arabia

The Saudi Arabia Embassy in New Delhi on Thrusday informed that from now on, Indian nationals will not be required to submit a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) to the Embassy. It said that the decision has bee taken considereing the strong relations of India and Saudi Arabia.

The Embassy tweeted with an announcement, "In view of the strong relations and strategic partnership between Saudi Arabia and India, the Kingdom has decided to exempt Indian nationals from submitting a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC)."

"The PCC will no longer be a requriement for Indian citizens to obtain visa for travelling to Saudi Arabia. Thedecision has been taken as part of efforts of the two countries to furtjer strengthen their relations," the announcement read.

The embassy appreciated the contribution made by two million Indians living in the Kingdon. It said, "The Embassy appreciates the contribution of over two million Indian citizens living peacefully in the Kingdom."

What is Police Clearance Certificate?

Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) is issued to Indian Passport holders if they have applied for Residential Status, Employment, Long term visa or for immigration. PCC cannot be issued for persons going abroad on Tourist Visa. 

There are 17 countries categorised as Emigration Check Required (ECR) because they do not have strict laws regulating the entry and employment of foreign nationals.

The list includes United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Qatar, and Afghanistan among others.
