Centre Provided Over Rs 3 Lakh Cr To MSME Sector, Averted Crisis To 1.5 Crore Jobs: PM Modi Launches Rozgar Mela

The letters will be given personally to some candidates who are selected for different government jobs at their designated locations under the 'Rozgar Mela'.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched the 'Rozgar Mela' to provide jobs to 10 lakh youth and said that his government provided help of more than Rs 3 lakh crore to MSME sector during the COVID-19 pandemic period, which averted crisis to over 1.5 crore jobs.

Manufacturing and tourism generate a lot of jobs, the government is focusing on expanding these sectors, PM Modi mentioned as he virtually addressed the event, as reported by news agency PTI.

In the 'Rozgar Mela', the Centre will hand over appointment letters to 75,000 newly inducted appointees, a statement by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) informed.

"India is today the fifth largest economy in the world. In the last 8 years, we have jumped to the fifth position from the tenth position. It's true that many big economies of the world are struggling with inflation, unemployment... side effects of the biggest crisis in 100 years cannot just go away in 100 days": PM Modi said referring to the Coronavirus pandemic, as quoted by news agency ANI.

He added that despite the challenges, "India, with full force, new initiatives and some risks, has been trying to save itself from the global crisis. We've been able to save ourselves till now with your cooperation. We have, in the last 8 years, minimised the issues which created obstacles in our economy."

The Prime Minister also highlighted the PM MUDRA Yojana saying, "About 70% of the beneficiaries of PM MUDRA Yojana are women. In recent years, 8 crore women have joined self-help groups that are financially supported by the government."

Union Ministers To Hand Over Appointment Letters

Around 50 Union ministers will be giving appointment letters to nearly 20,000 people at different locations across the country under the recruitment drive, reported news agency PTI. 

Railways minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will offer jobs in Jaipur while Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia is in Bhopal and Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur is handing over the appointment letters in Chandigarh.

The letters will be given personally to some candidates who are selected for different government jobs at their designated locations under the 'Rozgar Mela'. The appointment letters for appointees other than those participating at the venue will be sent by email or post as well, PTI reported officials as saying.

The new recruits from across the country will join 38 ministries/departments of the government.

"The appointees will join the government at various levels viz Group - A, Group - B (Gazetted), Group - B (Non-Gazetted) and Group - C. The posts on which appointments are being made include Central Armed Force Personnel, Sub Inspector, Constable, LDC, Steno, PA, Income Tax Inspectors, MTS, among others," the PMO said.

The recruitment under mission mode by ministries and departments is either done by themselves or through recruiting agencies such as UPSC, SSC, and Railway Recruitment Board.

"For expeditious recruitment, selection processes have been simplified and made tech-enabled," the statement added.
