'Adding Momentum To India-US Friendship': PM Modi Concludes America Visit, Next Stop Egypt — Details

This is PM Modi's first trip to Egypt, the first official bilateral visit by an Indian PM since 1997. While there have been some previous visits, they have mostly been for multilateral events.

After concluding his visit to the United States, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has departed for Egypt, the second of his two-nation tour. Calling his US visit special, PM Modi said that the two nations will keep working together to make the planet a better place for the coming generations. "Concluding a very special USA visit, where I got to take part in numerous programmes and interactions aimed at adding momentum to the India-USA friendship. Our nations will keep working together to make our planet a better place for the coming generations," PM Modi said in a tweet.

PM Modi will pay a state visit to Egypt on June 24-25, at the invitation of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. This trip is significant because it is Modi's first trip to Egypt and the first official bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Egypt since 1997. While there have been occasional visits in the past, they have mostly been for multilateral events. PM Modi's visit to Egypt comes on the heels of Egyptian President el-Sisi's visit to India as the chief guest on Republic Day, indicating the strengthening of bilateral ties and the mutual desire to expand cooperation between the two countries.

PM Modi To Visit Historic Al-Hakim Mosque:

PM Modi will pay a visit to the 11th-century Al-Hakim Mosque during his two-day state visit. 

The mosque was meticulously restored with the help of the Dawoodi Bohra community, emphasising the spirit of collaboration and cultural exchange. Furthermore, the prime minister will pay a visit to the Heliopolis War Cemetery to pay tribute to the valiant Indian soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for Egypt during World War I. 

PM Modi's Pre-Meeting With India Unit To Highlight Strengthening Of India-Egypt Relations

Before meeting Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet with the India Unit, a distinguished group of high-ranking ministers established by President el-Sisi to strengthen bilateral relations with India, PTI reported. 

Speaking at a press conference, Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra emphasised the remarkable level of ministerial engagement between the two countries, emphasising the strategic partnership's importance. In addition to political discussions, Prime Minister Modi's itinerary includes interactions with the Indian community in Egypt, strengthening cultural ties between the two countries.
