PM Modi To Chair Another Meeting With All CMs On June 16, 17 As India's Covid-19 Tally Nears 3 Lakh-Mark
PM Modi will chair sixth round of consultation meeting with all the CMs via video conferencing and sources have informed that states could be divided in to two slots for the two-day virtual meeting.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold fresh round of consultations with Chief Ministers of states next week on the backdrop of rapidly increasing Covid-19 contagion that has infected close to 3 lakh people in the country and costed lives of above 8,000. As per latest reports, PM Modi will chair review meeting with CMs of as many as 21 states and Union Territories (UTs) on June 16 and 17. States that will participate in June 16 meeting are Punjab, Assam, Kerala, U'khand, J'khand, Chhattisgarh, Tripura, Himachal, Chandigarh, Goa, Manipur, Nagaland, Ladakh, Puducherry, Arunachal, Meghalaya, Mizoram, A&N Islands, Dadar Nagar Haveli & Dama Diu, Sikkim & Lakshadweep.
Meanwhile, CMs of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Karnataka, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu And Kashmir, Telangana and Odisha will speak to PM Modi on June 17.
The countrywide count of highly infectious Covid-19 cases climbed to the fourth highest in the world, overtaking the UK on Thursday, even as India reported another highest single-day rise in new infections and deaths. The number of cases now stand at 297,535, of which active cases account for 141,842. Maharashtra along accounts of 1 lakh Coronavirus cases. With 3,493 new cases of novel Coronavirus reported in the past 24 hours, the total number of cases in Maharashtra has reached 1,01,141. As many as 127 Coronavirus-related deaths have been reported from Maharashtra in the past one day. Traffic jams, raging crowd in markets, travelling in trains and buses etc are being considered to be some of the contributors of the spike. With lockdown rumours doing rounds, the June 16-17 meeting between PM and CMs will be of prime importance as Centre will seeks suggestion from state heads for future course of action.
