PM Modi Meets Ministers, Top Bureaucrats To Review India’s Response To Covid-19 Pandemic
During the meet, it was observed that two-thirds of India's COVID-19 infection load are in five states with an overwhelming proportion of cases in big cities, a government statement.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday met senior officials, ministers and top bureaucrats to review India's response to Covid-19 pandemic. PM Modi took stock of the pandemic situation in different states and union territories, including Delhi, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said in a statement. During the meet, it was observed that two-thirds of India's Covid-19 infection load are in five states with an overwhelming proportion of cases in big cities, a government statement.
Prime Minister's meeting comes days before he is scheduled to hold fresh round of consultations with Chief Ministers of various states on the backdrop of rapidly increasing Covid-19 contagion that has infected over 3 lakh people in the country and costed lives of above 8,000.
As per reports, all states and UTs are divided into two groups and two days are dedicated so that the Prime Minister can listen to all the Chief Ministers.

States that will participate in June 16 meeting are Punjab, Assam, Kerala, U'khand, J'khand, Chhattisgarh, Tripura, Himachal, Chandigarh, Goa, Manipur, Nagaland, Ladakh, Puducherry, Arunachal, Meghalaya, Mizoram, A&N Islands, Dadar Nagar Haveli & Dama Diu, Sikkim & Lakshadweep.
Meanwhile, CMs of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Karnataka, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu And Kashmir, Telangana and Odisha will speak to PM Modi on June 17.
There have been at least five such interactions so far with the fifth one taking place on May 11. The number of Covid infected cases in 24 hours reached a record high today with 11,458 fresh cases. The number of active cases in the country has reached 1,45,779 cases while the number of deaths registered in a single day is 386. The death toll in the country stands at 8,884. India's recovery rate is now 49.9 per ent. According to the Health Ministry, the total number of recovered cases in the country are 1,54,329.
