Modi was born on September 17, 1950, in a Gujarati family to Damodardas Mulchand Modi and Heeraben Modi. He is the 3rd out of the six children of Heeraben and Damodardas Modi.

Since being elected Prime Minister in 2014, Narendra Modi has celebrated every birthday in a very unique way. The prime minister has often travelled to Gujarat on his birthday to seek the blessings of his mother Heeraben.

This year, PM Modi has a packed schedule on his birthday and will launch a plethora of projects in different sectors. The most notable of all the projects is the release of eight cheetahs brought from Namibia in Madhya Pradesh's Kuno National Park.

Besides, BJP has lined up several events for the special day. Social activities like blood donation camps, free health check-up camps, adoption of TB patients are some of the events planned by BJP across the country. A restaurant in Delhi will be serving a '56-inch thali' for 10 days to commemorate PM Modi's birthday.

After releasing cheetahs, PM Modi will take part in a plantation programme at Karahal in Sheopur district and later arrive in a local school to participate in a conference of women self-help groups (SHGs).

After a brief stay in Gwalior, PM Modi will leave for New Delhi in the afternoon. The Prime Minister will then address students at the first-ever convocation of students from ITIs on the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti. Around 40 lakh students will join this programme.

A more significant event is scheduled in the evening when Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the National Logistics Policy of the country, aimed at promoting seamless movement of goods across the country.
