Bihar: PM Modi Announces To Add 75,000 Medical Seats In Next 5 Years

PM Modi announced that his government will add more seats in medical colleges in the next five years.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday made big announcements linked to medical education during his visit to Bihar, here assembly elections are due to take place next year. 

Addressing a public rally in Bihar's Darbhanga, Modi announced to addition of 75,000 medical seats in the next five years. He also announced that medical education will be imparted in Hindi and other Indian languages. 

"In the next 5 years, we will add 75,000 new medical seats. Another big decision taken by our government is that medical education will be imparted in Hindi and other Indian languages soon," Modi said. 

"The cancer hospital being established in Muzaffarpur will benefit the patients as they will get better treatment in the state itself and not travel outside the state. Bihar will also get a big eye hospital," he added.

During his visit, PM Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated development projects worth Rs 12,100 crore. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Union ministers Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi were also present alongside Modi during the event. 

"Our government has always stood for the development of the people of the country. We have laid the foundation and inaugurated development works worth Rs 12,000 crores in a single program," he said. 

Targeting the previous government, Modi said it remained entangled in promises and claims without any serious concerns for the needs of the poor. 

"In the past, the situation was very challenging. There were very few hospitals and doctors, and medicines were very expensive. Previous governments remained entangled in promises and claims without any serious concern for the needs of the poor. Until Nitish took charge in Bihar, there was no serious concern for addressing these issues," the Prime Minister said.
