On Tej Pratap Yadav and Wife Aishwarya Rai's Divorce, Here Is What Younger Brother Tejashwi Yadav Has To Say

Tej Pratap Yadav, Wife Aishwarya Rai Divorce: Tej Pratap Yadav and Aishwarya Rai had tied the knot in May this year in a lavish ceremony in Bihar and now his divorce petition is expected to come up for hearing on November 29. Tejashwi Yadav, who was the former Deputy Chief Minister and present Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, said that this is a family matter.

NEW DELHI: As Bihar’s former Chief Minister Lalu Yadav’s son Tej Pratap Yadav, who recently tied knot with party MLA daughter Aishwarya Rai, filed for a divorce in Bihar’s family court only months after his wedding citing ‘compatibility issues’, his younger brother Tejashwi Yadav said that this is not a matter of public interest and should not be discussed. Tej Pratap Yadav and Aishwarya Rai had tied the knot in May this year in a lavish ceremony in Bihar and now his divorce petition is expected to come up for hearing on November 29. When asked about the divorce, Tejashwi Yadav,"I have been living a stifled (ghut ghut ke) life. How long can one go on like this?" He also said he has not been on talking terms with his wife for the past couple of months. While talking to news agency ANI, Tejashwi Yadav, who was the former Deputy Chief Minister and present Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, said “We should not argue about these things. We should worry about the country, leave it for the family to worry.” He stressed that this is a family matter and expressed strong displeasure over the media spotlight on the divorce petition. Tejashwi Yadav’s reaction comes a day after elder brother Tej Pratap filed a divorce petition at the Patna civil court. Tej Pratap took the step barely a couple of days after his return from a pilgrimage to Vrindavan, from where he had shared on social media photographs of himself posing like Lord Krishna playing a flute surrounded by a herd of cattle. The separation has been sought invoking Section 13 A of the Hindu Marriage Act under which either spouse can unilaterally seek the divorce. On Friday, Tej Pratap's father-in-law Chandrika Rai, mother-in-law and sister-in-law have reached Lalu's residence. Earlier, Tej Pratap had declared after five days of being married that he does not want his wife to enter politics but the circumstances changed after a month itself. It is to be noted that Aishwarya also comes from a political family. She has strong political connections and her entry in politics would therefore not be a surprise move. Her grandfather Daroga Rai was a former chief minister of Bihar while her father Chandrika Rai is a former minister and a Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader.
