No Jab, No Salary: Punjab Govt Comes Up With New Policy To Ensure Covid Vaccination

According to reports, the vaccinated will have to upload their certificates on the Punjab government’s job portal if they want their salary.

New Delhi: Amid the rise in cases of the highly contagious Omicron variant, the Punjab government has issues orders stating no salary will be given to the government employees without Covid-19 vaccination certificates.

The ‘No Jab No Salary’ policy for the government employees is aimed at promoting Covid vaccination.

According to reports, the vaccinated will have to upload their certificates on the Punjab government’s job portal if they want their salary.

There is, however, no official word yet if any penalty or fine will be imposed on those government employees, who have not taken the Covid vaccination till date.

Meanwhile, the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry informed that India’s cumulative Covid-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 138.96 crore with the administration of 57,05,039 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours as per reports till 7 a.m. Wednesday.

The recovery of 6,906 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients since the beginning of the pandemic to 3,42,01,966.

Consequently, the country’s recovery rate stands at 98.40%, the highest since March 2020, the ministry added.

The ministry said more than 147 crore vaccine doses have been provided to the states and Union Territories so far through the Centre’s free of cost channel and through direct state procurement category.

More than 17.73 crore balance and unutilized Covid vaccine doses are still available with the states and Union Territories to be administered.

The ministry further said the vaccination drive has been ramped up through availability of more vaccines, advance visibility of vaccine availability to the states and Union Territories for enabling better planning by them and streamlining the vaccine supply chain.

Supporting the states and Union Territories by providing them vaccines free of cost, the Central government will in the new phase of the universalisation of the Covid-19 vaccination drive procure and supply (free of cost) 75% of the vaccines being produced by the vaccine manufacturers in the country to states and Union Territories.
