The office of Nawaab Malik tweeted this morning, "Today morning the ED had come to Nawab Malik's residence. They accompanied him in his vehicle to the ED office. Advocate Amir Malik, Malik's son has accompanied him."
Reacting to Malik's inteerogation, NCP leader Supriya Sule said, "For many days people of BJP were tweeting that ED notice will come against Nawab Malik and Maha Vikas Aghadi. They directly took him to the ED office without any notice. I don't know what new type of politics they have started. It's an insult to Maharashtra."
Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut also responded to Malik's inteerogation and said, "Nawab Malik is a sr leader & Maharashtra's cabinet minister. The way in which he was taken from his home by ED is a challenge to Maharashtra Govt. A minister is taken away by central agencies by coming to our state. After 2024, you'll be probed too. Keep this in mind."
The ED has been investigating various premises and questioning people associated with Dawood on the basis of an FIR by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The case has been registered under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).
Last week, the ED conducted raids on various people including Ibrahim’s sister Haseena Parkar, his brother Iqbal Kaskar, his brother-in-law Salim Fruit, and Chhota Shakeel.
The ED had arrested Iqbal Kaskar from Thane jail last week for interrogation. He is in seven-day custody with the ED. In the last week, the ED has searched around 10 premises and hideouts of Ibrahim’s aides.
As per the sources, the ED FIR says that Dwood Ibrahim is running an organised crime unit that deals with money laundering, illegal occupation of land among other illegal activities.
Nawab Malik is being questioned in a land deal that allegedly took place between Ibrahim and Malik’s son Faraz Malik.
BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis alleged Farz Malik of dealing with the underworld. He said, “A prime property of 2.80 acres at LBS Marg in Kurla was bought by Solidus Investment Private Limited for a meager ₹30 lakh. The signatory of the deal transacted was Faraz Malik, son of Nawab Malik,” reported Hindustan Times.
