PM Narendra Modi Returns To India After Week-Long US Trip; Gets Grand Welcome At Delhi Airport

Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned home to a rousing welcome by party leaders, workers and supporters at the Palam Airport in the national capital on Saturday evening.

New Delhi: After concluding his week long trip to the United States to attend the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned home to a rousing welcome by party leaders, workers and supporters at the Palam Airport in the national capital on Saturday evening. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) working president JP Nadda was also present at the airport to receive the prime minister. Soon after landing here, PM Modi was felicitated at an event organised outside Palam Technical Airport. "I want to thank you all for coming in large numbers. This has been a memorable welcome back home. On this occasion, I bow to each and every Indian," said PM Modi while addressing the massive crowd that came to welcome him. BJP planned a grand welcome to PM Modi with the Delhi unit of the party organising a cultural programme at the airport. "After assuming office in 2014, I went to the UN. I went to the UN even now. In these five years, I have seen a big change. The respect for India, the enthusiasm towards India has increased significantly. This is due to the 130 crore Indians," PM Modi said. "The programme in Houston, Howdy Modi was grand. The coming of US President Donald Trump was special. There were Republicans and Democrats. In addition to all this, what stands out is the manner in which the Indian community in USA, in Texas and in Houston showcased their presence," he said further. While concluding his speech, PM Modi also wished people of the country as the auspicious festive of Navrati begins from tomorrow. "Tomorrow onwards, the nation will mark the auspicious occasion of Navratri. The atmosphere will be festive due to Durga Puja too. I wish my fellow Indians on these special occasions," he said. Several other party representatives from other states were also present to welcome the prime minister. Bringing an extremely productive week-long visit to an end, PM Modi on Friday emplanned for New Delhi from New York, after delivering a speech at the United Nations General Assembly.
