Muslim scholar offers to donate kidney to Sushma Swaraj
NEW DELHI: A Muslim scholar from Rampur (Uttar Pradesh) on Saturday offered to donate his kidney to Sushma Swaraj as the External Affairs Minister is undergoing dialysis at AIIMS following the organ failure.
"I extend my wishes and prayers for Sushma Swaraj and offer my kidney to her," Syed Abdullah Tariq, who is a scholar of Islam, said.
"Most of the times, politicians, while taking steps in national interest, ignore the miseries of people. However, Sushma is one such politician who feels the pain and sufferings of individuals. She helps people in distress whenever they call upon her. I would be happy if I am able to help such a person," Abdullah Tariq, who works to develop understanding and harmony among different communities, said.
Swaraj is known for her being prompt and helpful in 'troubleshooting' public grievances through Twitter. The Washington Post, a US daily, had labelled Swaraj as the ‘Supermom of State'.
"Though her work is appreciated by one and all but I admire her because even after being at such a high position, she doesn't forget commoners. She responds to almost every distress call made to her and pay attention to people's needs. Such people are rare and precious," Tariq added.
In past few days, scores of people have offered to donate kidney to the ailing minister, who is undergoing tests for a transplant surgery at AIIMS in Delhi and on the lookout for a suitable donor.
“Kidney has no religious labels,” Swaraj had tweeted on Friday while thanking a Muslim man who offered to donate his kidney.
She also exuded confidence of being able to come out of the health condition with good wishes of people and blessings of God.
