Heavy Rains Submerge Many Parts Of Mumbai; Traffic Diverted In Parel, Hindmata And Other Areas

Heavy rainfall has wreaked havoc in the Mumbai and severe waterlogging has been reported from several parts of Mumbai. Traffic has been diverted as roads remain submerged underwater.

Mumbai: Monsoon fury continues in Mumbai and after incessant rains, for two days low lying areas have reported severe waterlogging. Several areas such as Santa Cruz, Hindmata, Sion, Kurla, Bandra, Andheri, and Khar were seen submerged in knee-deep water causing problems to officer goers on Monday morning. Traffic has been diverted in several areas such as in Hindmata and Parel The India Meteorological Department has said that heavy to very heavy spells in and around Mumbai will continue. The temperatures will be at a maximum of 28 degrees and 23 degrees. The weather department had issued a  ‘yellow’ alert' for heavy rainfall last week, in isolated areas in Maharashtra, including Thane and Mumbai. Affected Areas Areas that have been affected include Santa Cruz, Hindmata, Sion, Kurla, Bandra, Andheri, Khar, Dadar, and Parel. Traffic has been diverted and commuters are advised to keep enough time at hand for travelling. The IMD has predicted that Tuesday, July 28 may remain a relatively rain-free day for Mumbai. There have also been reports of traffic snarls in Vashi area. The monsoon season this year is causing flood situation in several states. Assam and Bihar have been severally hit with floods in many areas. Other states in the North-East such as Sikkim and Meghalaya has also received excess rain this season.
