MP: Rumor of child lifting goes viral; Even ABP News' team mistaken as 'Bacha Chor Gang'
New Delhi: The rumour of child lifting in the various parts of the country has claimed lives of 21 people till date. The rumour that is being circulated on various social media platforms has stimulated an atmosphere of fear among the masses. This has further erupted violence among the mob in many states including Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra. The incidents of mob lynching have become rampant lately in several parts of the country.
To investigate the matter and know the truth behind the rumour mills about the Child lifting gang, ABP News team reached Madhya Pradesh's Singrauli. However, during all this chaos, ABP News team was taken for 'Bacha Chor Gang' too. When ABP News explained their presence in the area, the woman who was afraid of the team got hang of the whole situation. She revealed about the issue and told how she and the people of her village believed the rumour in the posts that was being circulated.

Gone to further investigate the matter, the ABP News team learned that the rumour was being circulated among the masses through internet and mobile phones. Photos and videos of child lifters were actively forwarded on various WhatsApp groups. Besides, messages and visuals of children being operated to extract the kidneys were also doing rounds. A message was also floated among the people saying that the gang is lifting the children by intoxicating them.
According to the police, the rumour that a gang of child-lifters was active in the area were doing the rounds on social media. The police has advised that people should not believe in rumours which are being spread maliciously wherein innocent people are being assaulted or even killed. On receipt of such rumours, people should contact local police for verification and after verification police should take necessary action.

In a recent incident of mob violence, five people were lynched to death by villagers in Maharashtra's Dhule district on suspicion of being child-lifters. Dhule Superintendent of Police M Ramkumar was quoted as saying that five outsiders were murdered by villagers on suspicion of child kidnapping in Rainpada village of Pimpalner Police station limits. Later, 10 people were arrested in connection with the matter.

Last week, a person was lynched while two others were injured after a mob suspected them to be child lifter in Tripura's Urabari area. In similar incidents, two people were thrashed in Gujarat's Dwarka district while two youths were lynched in Karbi Anglong district of Assam on suspicion of being child-lifters.
