Intruding Chinese PLA Abduct Our People, Urge Centre To Resolve Boundary Issue: Arunachal BJP MP

Gao said this issue is not limited to Miram Taron, who was recently handed over to the Indian Army.

New Delhi: Asserting the intruding People’s Liberation Army (PLA) troops abduct the people of Arunachal Pradesh when they go for hunting and collecting herbs in the dense jungles in the border areas, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Tapir Gao on Wednesday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government to resolve the boundary issue with China.

Gao said this issue is not limited to Miram Taron, who was recently handed over to the Indian Army.

“We’ve dense jungles in border areas where intruding PLA troops abduct our people when they go for hunting and collecting herbs. Such incidents will keep happening until we resolve the boundary issue,” said Gao, ANI reported.

“Until we settle the boundary issue, this type of action will keep happening, till then the PLA will keep doing the violence, give an electric shock, tomorrow they will also shoot,” he added.

The BJP MP said that a flag meeting should, therefore, be held between the Chinse PLA and the Indian Army.

“A settlement should come that this kind of thing should not happen in the future. The Indian government, ITBP, Army should look into this matter,” he added.

Gao, who represents the Arunachal East constituency in the Lok Sabha, also expressed serious concern over reports that Taron was beaten up and given electric shocks by the PLA and urged New Delhi to raise this issue with the authorities concerned in Beijing.

“I’ve received news that Miram Taron (who was handed over to India by PLA on January 27 days after he went missing) was beaten up and given electric shocks by the PLA,” said Gao.

“This is a serious matter. I urge the government to raise this issue with authorities concerned,” he added.

The BJP MP further said three labourers were abducted by an underground outfit from Arunachal Pradesh’s Longding district.

“One of them was released, but two are still in their captivity. I request the Government of India to ensure that such incidents don't recur during the ceasefire period,” he added.

Miram 17, had gone for a hunting trip with a friend when he went missing on January 18.

His friend, however, managed to escape. It was alleged that the Chinese army (PLA) had abducted him. Soon after the news of his disappearance spread, the Indian government and the army were in a hectic parley with the Chinese.

Earlier on January 27, the Chinese army handed over Miram to the Indian Army at the Wacha-Damai interaction point at Kibithu in Anjaw district.

Miram had to undergo quarantine and after completing legal formalities reunited with his family on Monday.
