'Mehngai Par Halla Bol': Congress To Hold Mass Protest Rally At Ramlila Maidan Against Price Hike, GST, Unemployment Tomorrow

Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and other party officials are scheduled to speak at the "Mehngai par halla bol" event tomorrow.

With a large show of force in Delhi's Ramlila Maidan on Sunday, the Congress will launch an all-out attack on the BJP government over price rises, unemployment, and the GST hike on vital products, news agency PTI reported.

Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and other party officials are scheduled to speak at the "Mehngai par halla bol" event tomorrow. It would be attended by party activists from Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, as well as others from throughout the country.

The demonstration comes ahead of the opposition party's 3,500-kilometer "Bharat Jodo Yatra" from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, which begins on September 7 and will highlight concerns like as rice prices and unemployment, as well as promote racial unity.

The "Bharat Jodo Yatra" is the Congress party's largest-ever mass contact campaign, with party officials reaching out to ordinary people at the grassroots level.

Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the party's general secretary, are temporarily abroad of the country for the former's medical treatment and will not attend the festivities.

Rahul Gandhi, who is now overseas with his mother Sonia Gandhi, is scheduled to return on Saturday and will take part in both huge ceremonies.

The Congress has been criticising the administration over price increases and unemployment, claiming that these are common-people concerns that should be addressed in all venues.

The opposition party is also looking for a solution to the problems of price rises, inflation, and unemployment, in addition to the increase in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on necessary commodities, and wants the establishment to do more to support people.

Former Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad is also slated to speak at his first public rally since leaving the party on Sunday at the Sainik farms in Jammu.

Azad, who was scathing of Congress leadership in his resignation letter, might escalate his criticism on Sunday.

The Congress, on the other hand, has labelled the former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister's public statements against its leadership as "diversionary methods" orchestrated by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
