Mann Ki Baat: PM Modi Honours VD Savarkar On Birth Anniversary, Says He Displayed 'Strength, Magnanimity'

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed the 101st episode of his monthly radio programme 'Mann Ki Baat'. PM Modi spoke in detail about the first round of Yuva Sangam in which around 1,200 youths from across the country participated. He said that in the first round of Yuva Sangam, about 1,200 youths toured 22 states of the country.

He interacted with Gyamar Nyokum ji from Arunachal Pradesh and Vishakha Singh ji from Bihar to know about their experiences of Yuva Sangam program.

"Everyone who have been a part of it, are returning with such memories, which will remain etched in their hearts for the rest of their lives," PM said.

Modi in his monthly radio show stated that India’s strength lies in its diversity and keeping this in mind, the education ministry started an initiative, Yuva Sangam.

Apart from increasing people-to-people connect, "its aim is to provide an opportunity for the country’s youth to mingle with each other", Modi said.

"We talked about the Kashi-Tamil Sangamam, Saurashtra-Tamil Sangamam in 'Mann Ki Baat'. Kashi-Telugu Sangamam was also held a while ago in Varanasi. Another unique effort to give strength to the spirit of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat, in the form of Yuva Sangam, has taken place in the country," he stated.

Notably, today is also the birth anniversary of one the most famous political figures in India’s history- Veer Savarkar. He is revered as a significant figure, particularly among political parties and organizations that adhere to Hindutva ideology. 

Modi in his radio show said that Savarkar's "unwavering dedication, courage, and sacrifices continue to inspire us even today."

Marking his birth anniversary, Modi said, "I cannot forget the day when I went to the cell in Andman where Veer Savarkar underwent the sentence of Kalapani. Veer Savarkar's personality comprised firmness and magnanimity."

Speaking on the recent International Museum Expo that featured 1,200 unique museums from worldwide, PM Modi said, "Noteworthy exhibits include Museo Camera in Gurugram, showcasing cameras from 1860 onwards, and Mumbai's Chhatrapati Museum, preserving over 70,000 objects, India Memory Projects tells historical tales through online picture narratives."

He added, "An attempt has been made to bring to the fore the memories related to the horrors of Partition. In the past years too, we have seen new types of museums and memorials coming up in India. 10 new museums dedicated to the contribution of tribal brothers and sisters in the freedom struggle are being set up."

PM Modi urged people to visit the unique museums of India and share attractive photographs from there with #MuseumMemories. "This will strengthen our connection with our glorious culture," he added.
