Man Kills Wife, Kid & Self In Pune Over Frustration Of Being Unemployed During Covid Lockdown
The incident took place on Sunday when the bodies of the deceased – 38-year-old Hanumantha Daryappa Shinde, his 28-year-old wife Pragya and their son Shivtej - were recovered from their home.
Pune: In an extremely disturbing incident that throws light on the sufferings of the people during the Covid-19 pandemic, a man died by suicide after killing his wife and a 14-month-old son in the Kadamwak area on the outskirts of Pune, Maharashtra, due to unemployment during the lockdown period.
The incident took place on Sunday when the bodies of the deceased – 38-year-old Hanumantha Daryappa Shinde, his 28-year-old wife Pragya, and their son Shivtej - were recovered from their home.
The case was registered after Hanumantha’s father Daryappa Arjun Shinde lodged a complaint with the Loni Kalbhor Police Station.
Hailing from Solapur, the Shinde family had come looking for work to Kadamwak a few months ago and were living in a rented a chawl.
Hanumantha, who was depressed and frustrated due to unemployment, strangulated his wife, slashed his son's throat, before ending his own life in his bedroom at around 11: 30 a.m. on Sunday.
The bodies have been sent for autopsy. The police have registered an accidental death report and further probe is underway.
