The police team later seized the spa where the woman used to work.
Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Police has begun its investigation after the death of a Thai woman in Lucknow triggered a controversy with Samajwadi Party leader I.P. Singh accusing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Seth’s son of bring her to India.
Carrying forward its probe into the matter on the directions of Lucknow Police Commissioner D.K. Thakur, a police team on Monday visited the O2 Thai Spa and Salon in Vibhuti Khand here and seized all CCTV footage and records of the Thai woman. The police team later seized the spa where the woman used to work.
The police is also questioning the woman’s local acquaintance, a tour guide named Salman, to determine the reason for her visit to the city.
The woman, who developed Covid-19 symptoms earlier on April 23, was being treated at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital here where she died on May 3.

The matter grabbed attention after the Samajwadi Party leader alleged that the Thai woman was brought to India by BJP MP Sanjay Seth’s son as an escort.
The BJP MP later met the Police Commissioner and demanded an impartial investigation into the matter while stating that the names of his relatives were being unnecessarily dragged into the same.
Questioning the police inaction in the case, the Samajwadi Party leader in a tweet earlier demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the matter.
“Why is the businessman Sanjay Seth showing off his money influence? If they really want a fair investigation then come with me and ask for a CBI inquiry. Why do you want it to be investigated by Lucknow Police only? With Seth get a fair probe done by the police, which has been holding the case for a week? I demand a CBI inquiry,” he posted on the micro-blogging platform in Hindi.
“A high-profile case involving sex trade, illegal money and the city’s famous people. Is it a crime to demand an investigation into the same? Shivam cook is the servant of which house and what did they get from the hotel CCTV footage? Who made the payment and what is his statement? Just a fair probe must be done on this,” he said in another post.
