Mamata Banerjee Meets Sonia Gandhi Over Tea; Discusses Political Situation, Unity Of Opposition
Banerjee said that she discussed the political situation in general, Pegasus controversy and Covid-19 situation and also discussed the unity of opposition.
Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who is on a 5-day visit to the national capital, on Wednesday met Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi at her residence, 10 Janpath.
According to reports, the two leaders met over tea and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was also present during the meeting.
While speaking to reporters after the meeting, Banerjee said that she discussed the political situation in general, Pegasus controversy and Covid-19 situation and also discussed the unity of opposition.
"Sonia ji invited me for tea, Rahul ji was also there. It was a very good meeting. I think the positive result must come out in the future," Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief said.
When asked about her thoughts on being the face of Opposition in 2024 Lok Sabha elections against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Banerjee said it is essential for everyone to come together in order to defeat BJP.
"Alone, I am nothing - everyone will have to work together. I am not a leader, I am a cadre. I am a person from the street," she said.
