Maharashtra Political Crisis: Next 48 Hrs Crucial For MVA Govt, Governor Likely To Call For Floor Test

Koshyari has now written to the Maharashtra government after LoP Praveen Darekar had complained about hasty decisions and GRs being issued in hurry by the Uddhav Thackeray government.

New Delhi: After the Eknath Shinde faction got a breather from the Supreme court which asked the deputy speaker of Maharashtra to hold the disqualification notices against the 16 rebel MLAs, speculations are rife that Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari may call for a floor test in the next 2 days.

It is being said that the next 48 hours are crucial for the Maha Vikas Aghadi government which has been holding back-to-back meetings in a bid to remain in power in Maharashtra after Shinde's rebellion triggered a crisis in the state. Governor Koshiyari, who was admitted to the hospital when the political coup in the state unfolded, has recovered from the virus and joined the office on Monday.

Koshyari has now written to the state government asking to provide complete information on all Government Resolutions (GRs) and circulars issued by the state government from June 22 to 24.

Principal Secretary to the Governor of Maharashtra Santosh Kumar wrote to Chief Secretary Manu Kumar Srivastava after Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Praveen Darekar had complained about hasty decisions and GRs being issued in a "hurry".

As the crisis in the state deepens and both the factions are ready for a long legal battle, ABP News sources have said that the governor will call for a floor test which can raise trouble for the Uddhav Thackeray government.

The rebels led by Eknath Shinde are currently operating from the five-star hotel Radisson Blu in Guwahati in BJP-ruled Assam. According to sources, the rebels have extended their stay till July 5 and are taking legal opinion for their next strategy.

Who can win the floor test?

BJP has at least 128 MLAs while the Maha Vikas Aghadi government has 116 MLAs. If the Shinde faction which is claiming the support of over 40 MLAs joins BJP then the MVA government can be toppled and the saffron party can again come to power in Maharashtra.

Meanwhile, BJP will be holding a meeting with its MLA tomorrow in Mumbai and Devendra Fadnavis will address the party leaders. Sources have said that MLAs have been asked to brace themselves up for the upcoming Vidhan Sabha session.
