Ex-Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik Admitted To Hospital, Confirms Daughter

EX-Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik has been admitted to a Hospital after his health suddenly deteriorated

Former Maharashtra minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Nawab Malik has been admitted to a Hospital after his health suddenly deteriorated on Saturday, news agency ANI reported citing his daughter. More details are awaited.

Previously, a special court denied Malik's son-in-law Sameer Khan's request to have his bank accounts unfrozen after the Narcotics Control Bureau blocked them in a drug-related case.

Malik, who is on bail in an alleged money laundering case, made his first appearance in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly on December 7, sparking speculation that he had aligned himself with the ruling Ajit Pawar-led NCP faction.

However, Malik's presence in the Assembly drew strong criticism from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who immediately wrote to his ally, fellow Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, stating that given the nature of the allegations against Malik, it would be inappropriate to include him in the ruling Mahayuti government.

"Power comes and goes." However, the country is more important than power. Nawab Malik is currently out on medical leave. While you are free to welcome him because the allegations against him have yet to be proven, it is our [the BJP's] firm belief that making him a member of the Mahayuti government would be inappropriate given the nature of those allegations," Fadnavis wrote in his letter to Ajit Pawar.

The 64-year-old Malik, who was imprisoned between March 2022 and August 2023, was greeted warmly by Anil Patil, the chief whip of the Ajit Pawar-led NCP, in whose chambers Malik sat briefly before taking part in Assembly proceedings on the first day of the Maharashtra Legislature's winter session in Nagpur.

In 2021, Fadnavis accused Malik of allegedly striking a property deal with 1993 Mumbai bomb blast convict Sardar Shahwali Khan, and Mohd. Salim Ishaq Patel is said to be the 'frontman' of Dawood Ibrahim's sister, Haseena Parkar.

Solidus Investment Private Limited purchased a prime property of 2.80 acres on LBS Marg in Kurla for only ₹30 lakh. Faraz Malik, Nawab Malik's son, signed the deal, Fadnavis claimed.
